Entry Deck
This is a deck on a $750,000 home. Unfortunately, the builder made some critical errors while installing the front deck. Planter box, wow, what a great idea... however when installed improperly costs several thousand to fix the damage caused by poor planning. Without a proper drainage system this planter box has rotted out the planter box structure and part of the deck. Notice how the right and left sides of deck slope into the middle. How the handrail isn't strait. Rot has caused collapse of some structure.
Don't always go for the lowest bid. Make sure it is going to be done right. If something doesn't make sense, ask questions. And always check your contractors license to make sure they are currently licesed in your state. In Oregon you can go to
