1. Attic Crawl Space -
In this recent project the homeowner wanted to make use of storage space in the attic area above the garage. Simple solution was to install this pull down aluminum step ladder by Werner.
 
The biggest advantage of this aluminum choice over wood was the closer. It is much like that in the back hatch of a car rather than a spring. Smooth opening and closing and it won't buck you off. Another advantage - 300lb load capacity.
 
          
Before - a 20x23 hole with sheetrock lid.          After - a 22.5 x 54 inch opening with ladder.


 2. Cellar Door Cover.

Problem: Cellar door not used anymore and wanted it protected from weather and homeless access.

Solution: Frame in a pitched roof to cover opening while leaving venting for moisture in cellar to be able to evaporate. Sealing the enclosure also provided security without a basement access to the house which was no longer desired. Roofing and paint colors existing in other areas of the house were incorporated to make a solution that not only looked good, but blended well with the rest of the house.
